From A to B

‘From A to B’ is a work that grows out of the thought about what one feels when one moves from one’s own country. What happens on the way and why is one really moving? The work is a slow-motion animated film, a slow process that has given place for reflection on the feelings that are involved in migration, so that the ideas could flow and finally unfold in the film.

In ‘From A to B’ the houses and buildings which are shown represent different countries in an electric landscape which is a fusion of several locations. The animated figures do not represent specific individuals, rather a general picture of how it is to be a migrant. Rather than old cliches, these figures’ narratives are based on, and inspired by, real experiences of migration from family, friends and personal experience.

The challenge that David Ramirez Gomez has set himself, is to show the feelings one has as a migrant, when one moves from one point to another. Feelings that involve that which one is leaving as well as that which one is meeting. David Ramirez Gomez uses his talents as a painter and transposes them to the media of moving pictures and sound.

David Ramirez Gomez is a colombian artist who has come to Denmark to live with his wife. Although he sometimes misses Colombia, he cannot be happier anywhere else in the world than he is in Denmark, with its ‘lovely’ weather and his wife.

From A to B
